Boogie Boards and Sebastian Inlet State Park

ANOTHER DAY AT THE BEACH

Brad thought it would be a good idea to buy some Boogie Boards.  So we had to go try them out!  Here are some pictures of Brad.  Now he thinks that he needs to take surf lessons.  If that happens I will be sure to get some pics.
About forty-five minutes south of us, there is Sebastian Inlet State Park.  I have been told that you can go there and see a "Sea Cow", also known as a manatee.  Between November and March is the high season in Florida for Manatees.  There are signs everywhere reminding boater to drive slow because Manatees move so slow that boats will run into them and injure them.  I was hoping to see one, but had no luck.  However the park was a lot of fun.  There are two large piers that fisherman fish off of.  We saw a guy catch a stingray! It made me want to go FISHING.  Hopefully we get to go on a fishing trip soon.

We didn't see any Manatees but if you look close at the picture below you can see Dolphins! Brad insured me they were dolphins and not sharks.  Dolphins have a rounder fin.

Theresa turns 30!!

MARCH 21st....MY BIRTHDAY!
The day started off with Brad singing me Happy Birthday and cooking me a delicious breakfast.  He packed us a lunch and we headed to the beach.  There are not many beaches that allow dogs.  There are not any in the county we live in.  After some research we found a dog friendly beach in Fort Pierce, which is a little over an hour away.  The beach is a very rocky, so it wasn't ideal for swimming or surfing but we had a blast playing with Macy.  She actually attempted to get into a tidepool.  After the beach we went home and Brad cooked me yummy fajitias. The night ended with watching a chic flick and drinking wine.  I think it was a perfect 30th birthday!!  Oh plus we started planning our trip to the Keys!!

Our First Week

March 13-19

If you did not notice from our apartment pictures, my company supplies the housing and furniture, but we are suppose to bring everything else.  This was a bit of a challenge since Brad and I weren't really planning on traveling after New York.  We rummaged through our storage unit the best we could trying to find kitchen ware, dishes, and bathroom supplies. Luckily my company is willing to reimburse us for a trip to Walmart and the Dollar store.  Look at all our goodies!!
Monday I had orientation, which was kind of a joke. I was done by 1pm. That afternoon while in the Walmart parking lot a lady decided to back into our car!! There wasn't much damage but we exchanged info. (Brad was determined to get her to pay for the scratch in the paint) The day continued with bad luck.  Later that evening while Brad was cooking dinner and choppin up some PICO, I suddenly heard him screaming and saw him jumping up and down.  He chopped off the tip of his finger!!! Thankfully it was not to bad....it bled a lot and cut right through the nail but we did not have to visit the ER.  He did compliment me on my nursing skills.

Tuesday we decided to check out COCOA BEACH and the spring break action.  Unfortunately, we forgot our camera but had a blast.  Many of you may thing that you are able to drink on the beach, but most of the beaches in Florida prohibit alcohol.  Cocoa Beach doesn't though....it was very entertaining watching the college kids.
I worked Wednesday and Thursday. Brad took my car in to the adjusters to get an estimate. On Thursday after work we ventured out for St Pattys day!  In Downtown Melbourne they have a huge block party with multilple bars and live bands.
Friday we did not do much.  We went for a drive down A1A and ate lunch at a taco shack. Unfortunately, I ate something BAD and spent the night with food poisoning.  I hadn't had food poisoning since my freshman year in college and hope I never get it again....I thought I was dying!!  Saturday I spent the entire day re-hydrating and sleeping. Thankfully by Sunday I was able to leave the house.....Just in time to begin celebrating my BDAY!!

MOVING to FLORDIA

I know I didn't keep my blog up to date in NYC but hopefully I will have a little more time in Florida.

SO, our new adventure has found us in Melbourne, FL. Most of you will ask yourself where the heck is Melbourne? It is about 30 minutes south of Cocoa Beach and 3 hours north of Miami. Population is appx 80,000. Big change from NYC!! We arrived here on Saturday March 12th, after a fun 3 day drive!  We actually made the best of it.  This first night we stopped in Biloxi, MS, and at the time thought it would be fun to hit the casinos. We were wrong....damn casino took our money AGAIN!!  The next night we had booked a hotel in Jacksonville, Fl. It was suppose to take us 7 1/2 hours, however, we decided to check out the SPRING BREAK scene in Panama City.  The people watching and sightseeing extended our drive to 11 hours!!  That was by far our longest day, but we had a blast watching all the dumb college kids.....wishing we could still hang. On Saturday we woke up early and headed down A1A (BEACH FRONT AVENUE) to Daytona Beach.  It was the 70th annual BIKE WEEK, so of course we had to stop and walk down the main strip.  It was almost mid afternoon and we could see the crowds were begining to get rowdy, so we decided to head to our final destination....MELBOURNE!

BIKE WEEK 2011

Our apartment is HUGE!! Well....comparing it to NYC.  350 sq feet to 1100 sq feet.  One room studio to two bedroom two bath apartment with washer and dryer, dishwasher, AND ice maker!!! Its crazy how we missed the little things.  However, it does make you appreciate them a lot more.
