The Empire State Building

While Matt and Skye were in town, we went to the top of the Empire State Building. We went at night hoping we would get some good pictures of Manhattan but unfortunately we didn't get any good pictures.  On the first floor in the lobby there were beautiful window displays that looked like snow globes... I had to share them with y'all!!
While we have been here we have seen the Empire State building lite up with several different colors..... did you know that there is a lighting schedule?  However, most of the time it is just white lights.

Thanksgiving - Red/Orange/Yellow
Christmas- Red/Green/Green
Jets Playoff- Green/White/Green
Can't wait for Valentines Day.....it will be Red/Pink/White!!!!

The SNOW GLOBES!!!

THE BLIZZARD of 2010

Matt and Skye are here!!  They were the last flight to land at LaGuardia from Dallas that day. Brad went to pick them up from the airport around noon.  They went to Yankee Stadium and then came to the hospital to get me! The snow really started to come down by the time I got off work.  By the time we walked to the bus stop we were covered in snow.
The next morning we had a full agenda of sight seeing. The city was shut down. Snow piled as high as the cars, burying bicycles. You could actually walk down the middle of the street because there was no traffic. SO we had to go to Central Park and check out all the snow.
Where is the bike....notice there is no traffic on the road!!
We wish we had a sled!

I thought I could cross the median but FAILED!

After Central Park we headed to South Sea Port to get Broadway tickets. On our way downtown our bus driver stopped and made everyone get out and walk because the two buses in front of ours were stuck in the snow!
It was an adventure and all of us were sore the next day from trekking through the snow!

Christmas in NYC

Our Christmas FICUS, note the stockings on the dresser. We made the best of it!
A picture of our precious Macy with our new camera!
We celebrated Christmas on December 23rd because I had to work on Christmas Day.  About a week before Brad and I decided to upgrade our camera as our Christmas present to each other. Our families spoiled us and everyone mailed us presents!!  Our tree or Christmas Ficus had plenty of presents under it.

After opening all the wonderful gifts, we decided to take a stroll to Central Park and check out some of the window displays.  My Favorite was at Barneys (the Food Network).  Unfortunately during our outing Brad lost his wallet and we spend the rest of the evening canceling credit cards!  Thankfully Matt and Skye came in town a few days later and brought him his Passport!

Thank you to all our family and friends for the presents and wonderful Christmas cards! You truly made us feel loved and missed during the holidays!

Week 4 in New York City....The Tree!!

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lighting was last night.  Brad and I watched it at our apartment then headed down to Rockefeller Center to see it in person.  The crowds were leaving so we were able to get pretty close and get some beautiful pictures.  They had barricades set up almost 3 blocks away and I think every NYPD officer there.  It is truly a beautiful sight.....

After seeing the Christmas Tree last night, it kinda put us in the Christmas spirit!  So I want a Christmas tree!! However, that can get pricey and messy.... So we had to improvise.  I bought some lights from CVS and now we have a Christmas Ficus!  Yes we decorated our fake ficus tree and it is BEAUTIFUL!  Now I just need to hit up the dollar store for some cheap ornaments and we will be set!!

Raining day in NYC!!
What to do?  It has been raining for the last two days and the city gets kind of crazy!  I don't know how many times Brad almost had his eye taken out by an umbrella.  Some people have no idea of what is going on around them.  However it was pretty funny when a bus drove by and all of a sudden I saw Brad jump about 5 feet trying not to get soaked!!  Note to self... do not walk close to the street when it rains, YOU WILL GET SOAKED!
Having a mini dachshund in NYC when it rains can be a challenge... You may think about wiping her feet off before letting her run around the house after a walk but never thought that her entire underside would be soaked and require a bath every time we walk her!!  New York streets are dirty and Macy gets filthy!

Tomorrow.....we plan of heading to the TODAY SHOW!!
